Hello everyone!

I have some questions regarding construction techniques as I plan to build a house abroad.
I want to use newer construction techniques or systems. Since I want to reduce energy costs, I know there are many different options, but I would be happy if you could provide ideas and knowledge.

Thanks in advance :)

The best thing is always to take advantage of the local knowledge and conditions. To start with, you can tell us where you plan to build.

Warm countries?

Solar panels for domestic hot water are essential, preferably placed on the flat roof.

Shutters to keep out the midday heat.
Cool tiled floors to prevent burning your feet.
And the vapor barrier on the outside of the walls.
Maybe mosquito nets, and no barbecue evenings on the terrace.

Pretty much the exact opposite of what we have here at home as I understand it.

But as Nimajneb writes, where?

Where are warm countries? Maybe I should build in Thailand sometime and my thought is "refrigerator":x

So lots of bugs that settle in any insulation so polystyrene as insulation + insulate against the heat + AC

The idea of utilizing local knowledge is probably something to take with a pinch of salt. My wife and I were in China this summer (Guangxi) to visit the in-laws in a newly built house, you would have to search hard for a worse shoddy build. The bathroom floor looked like a test track with pits and holes everywhere, and they probably don't know what drainage slope is. Since you can't own your land there, apparently you don't build particularly durable houses, as there's a chance the municipality might decide to demolish them to make room for something else. And in that province, it gets about 40 in the summer and +5 in the winter, and since the houses lack any kind of insulation (concrete houses), you have to sit with a coat on and use heaters like car cabin heaters to be able to stay indoors. Really humid all year... an interesting challenge, wooden houses are probably out of the question...?

My wife and I have plans to build a house there to possibly move there full-time, and it would be interesting to know a bit about how to proceed. It is very clear that, if we do, we will monitor every nail that's driven in, because it's really hard to find good and meticulous craftsmen. An acquaintance built in Thailand, and it looked terrible when they went for an inspection. It makes all the little things that come up during Swedish inspections seem like small crumbs in comparison...

All the skilled house builders in China have probably moved to the big cities and are building skyscrapers instead.

Stone is definitely the way to go, not only considering the moisture but also considering everything that likes to eat wood in warm climates.

You could try to build with lättbetong if it's available. This way, it will be warm in winter and cool in summer. Check online for what's available in Japan and Taiwan; they have roughly the same climate but surely more modern methods.

Okay, as I see it, maybe a little more specification is needed...
Location - Dubai
Company - my own, I plan to open a new factory there with prefab-like systems that have really good insulation, strong, earthquake-resistant. Fast, too. Planning to build 5, we are five families who will do this so hopefully, I can make a profit if it becomes attractive.

so give me ideas...
