House longhorn beetles have long been a scourge for homeowners.
What did people use to treat/spray against house longhorn beetles before Anticimex existed?
In this particular case, Anticimex cannot be used.

I have undergone several treatments for house borer. The first one was over 30 years ago. All of them carried out by Anticimex if I remember correctly. The substance used has changed over the years. The one used in 1988 was extremely toxic and is said to be completely banned today. The house was sealed for fourteen days. The smell lingered for several years. However, I haven't noticed any difference in the effectiveness between the different substances.

As far as I know, Anticimex has been around for a very long time; I have been familiar with the name since the 50s. How treatments were done before Anticimex's time, I do not know. I guess house borer wasn't fought at all, or alternatively, cyanide fumigation or some similar dangerous method was used. I find it a bit hard to understand why you can't make use of Anticimex.
