I have a glazed balcony where I would like to hang up two hanging chairs.
The association has approved that I can drill 6cm up into the ceiling, which is made of concrete. But what type of plug/screw can be used that can be attached to such a small area yet hold approximately 75-80kg?
Expansion bolt with M10 thread mounted correctly seems like a safe choice to me. Then you can screw on an eye with internal thread and a lock nut for safety.
A quick Google search shows that you are not the first to encounter this.
As GK100 suggests, there are a few different types of brackets available.
There are also springs that absorb the "jerk":
A single expansion bolt will surely hold, but it must be installed completely correctly.
With some kind of bracket like the ones above, the load is distributed in a pleasant way.
It was quite expensive I thought, 838 bopp - but it does the job, and you're only supposed to do it once. Should be possible to find something more affordable maybe?
DIY or not? I'm perhaps on the lower side of handy, maybe a 4.5 on a ten-point scale (where 10 are those who happily build their own furniture and talk about different shellac types...) - I would have done it myself.
Or go to the nearest blacksmith and order, if you're lucky, they'll be done while you run a few errands and have exactly as many holes for expansion bolts as you want. However, you'll probably have to paint them yourself.
