Hole drilling hammer beam

I intend to drill two holes in the hammarband, relatively centrally on the short side of the house (under the gable peak in other words), 50mm in diameter. The hammarband is 170 or 190 wide. Do I need to reinforce the hammarband in any way?

Depends on how the construction looks in the wall and where the truss is located. But since it's the gable, it is 99% risk-free.

When building with loose timber, you normally don't even have top plates on the gables but let the studs go all the way up. So, I would say it's risk-free, unless you have some very unusual construction or, for example, a hipped roof.

As long as you don't have a ridge beam with posts down standing on the wall plate so...

No ridge beam, regular roof trusses. Classic gable roof. Studs in the walls at cc60. The truss rests at the very end on the wall plate, will of course not drill into it, only into the wall plate.
