Considering extending a countertop with a piece that can be folded up when needed. When the piece is folded up, it is locked in a horizontal position with one or two brackets.

I have seen such solutions before, but I don't know what to look for. What are these mechanisms called and where are they sold?

Does anyone know?

You might be looking for folding brackets. Here's an example from Beslagsbutiken:

Wow, exactly. Thank you. Naturally a descriptive name.

That one can handle 150 kg. I need much less, so maybe there are more delicate folding brackets for a shelf that only needs to hold some kitchen utensils etc. I'll check.

By the way, I've also seen a version where you only twist out the upper part. So, not like the allmoge tables where you pulled out a pin straight out.
