Hi! I'm currently renovating the staircase railing at home. Reusing some of the laminated posts/rails that have been there for 40 years, along with some new material. I was thinking of countersinking the screws and then puttying and painting over them. Is there a big risk that the screws will need to be tightened later? Is it smart to wait with the puttying until winter when it's driest in the house to see if they need tightening then?
