Hello!

I'm working on a bathroom renovation and have a question related to concealed hinges.

Due to an inspection hatch in the bathroom, the countertop needs to be able to be folded up when necessary. I'm looking for a solution where the hinges are concealed and mounted underneath (picture 4) and can fold 180 degrees (pictures 1-3). (I'm planning to hide a combined washer/dryer in the left cabinet, then attach the left side to the right cabinet to be able to attach a door there to hide the laundry basket. A plinth all the way, then a beam at the back where the countertop can lean in a folded-down position. This way, the inspection hatch can be opened, and we hide the laundry corner.)

Can anyone help me with what I should search for (Google)? Unfortunately, I'm terrible at construction, and the company doing the work doesn't seem very interested in a custom solution. Therefore, I think the instructions and materials need to be ready before the construction starts :)

Thanks in advance,
Kajsa

Hello!

The washing machine cannot be placed inside a cabinet; it must stand on the floor. There are combination machines for integration, which means you can attach a cabinet door to the washing machine (check Siemens). It becomes more complicated to hide a regular machine behind a door because the hinges need to be attached to something, and you need a wider door/doors than 60 cm. The depth might not be sufficient either; in your sketch, it looks like the niche is 60 cm deep, and the washing machine + door add a few more centimeters.

I lived in an apartment and had a washing machine and dryer in front of an inspection hatch with a countertop over them. The hatch was behind the dryer, and the countertop could not be lifted. It was newly constructed and approved to do so in 2012; I believe this still occurs.

If you are going to shuffle things from the laundry basket on the right to the washing machine on the left side, wouldn't doors that open from the "middle" be easier?
It should be possible for both the WM and laundry basket to stand directly on the floor, then you use the cabinet more as a shell to hide everything.
