Help with poop(!) on oak board!

Yes, you read that right...

My partner managed to place a diaper with no.2 on our oak countertop when changing our baby. She forgot about the diaper, and poop leaked out and has now dried on the oak surface.

How do I remove this? Two sandpapers?

The surface was already quite rough, so I was planning to sand it down to make it smooth, but is sandpaper best and then oiling?

You might want to start by scrubbing clean with a strong scrubbing brush and water and cleaning detergent. Otherwise, you might just spread the mess over the entire surface.

I would try bleaching the stain with Klorin and then sanding the entire board again. Klorin might normally be too strong for a wooden board, but in this case it seems justified.

Oak is suitably bleached with oxalic acid. Then sanding of the board and new wax/oil.

A classic way to remove stains is that like dissolves like. But I don't know if that's something you're willing to try?

Sandpaper is otherwise good for sanding, and if you're doing the entire surface, it's obviously easier to use a sander, available for rent if you don't want to buy...
