We are in the process of building a sleeping loft in the attic and will lay the floor soon. The part shown in the picture is what we plan to open up completely so you can see up to the ridge from the lower floor. I'm not familiar with technical terms, but I'm wondering what solutions exist for removing the two small "supports" that relieve the trusses. Is there any type of support that can be placed where the truss beams meet the floor beams at the edge, as we want to open up all the way to the wall, of course. 
Why open it all the way out? There's a very sharp angle that can't be used for anything other than collecting dirt?! Build up a small wall instead so you have something to place the bed against.

Anyhow, you should be able to secure the rafters properly at the end and add collar ties if they aren't already there. Whether that's enough is hard to say just like that; contacting an engineer as mentioned above is probably best. Then it might not be much prettier either.
The struts there certainly serve a function as they reduce the load on the roof rafters.
