Hello!
I would like advice regarding the design of the ceiling panel in the hallway. See attached image!
As you can see, I have planned to place the panel from side to side to create a wider impression. Otherwise, the hallway is relatively symmetrical. However, this will not be in the direction of the light. Additionally, it will likely be in the opposite direction to the planned ceiling panel in the living room which is visible straight ahead in the image.
So, should I change my mind and place the panel in the direction of the light and in the same direction as the ceiling panel in the adjacent living room?
Hi!
I would like to have advice regarding the design of ceiling panels in the hallway. See attached image!
As you can see, I have planned to place the panels from side to side to create a wider impression. The hallway is otherwise relatively symmetrical. However, this will not be in the direction of the light. Additionally, it will likely be in the opposite direction to the planned ceiling panels in the living room which you can just see at the front of the image.
So, should I change my plan and place the panels in the direction of the light and in the same direction as the ceiling panels in the adjacent living room?
Thanks in advance for tips and advice on design!

I would place the panels in the direction of the light and in the same direction as in the living room.
I just looked up at the ceiling and realized that it is different in our hallway and living room (probably to make it feel a bit wider, as you might think), but it is absolutely nothing that bothers you. We do have a double door opening there, I don't know if you have that, but it probably makes it different if it is more open. Both ceilings are white, with wood paneling in the hallway and 30 cm wide full-length panels in the living room.
Thank you Sune! It's really the most common option and aligns best with how the house is built and most recommendations. Considering laying in the other direction is something I'm thinking about solely to make a long room look a bit wider. Still leaning towards your option now.
I think the ceiling should be like the floor. And the ceiling (and the floor) should run along the view when entering. Floor and ceiling should also run along long rooms.
It's not possible to do it 100% right in your case.
In the hallway, I laid it wall-to-wall like the left picture, and the rest like the right picture. That's how I've done it at home to make it look a bit wider.
Hello and thank you for all the tips and opinions. The ceiling in the hallway is now finished. It ended up being placed crossways, i.e., from wall to wall in the picture. (According to the left option). I am satisfied with the result. NOW it remains to be seen what we will do with the living room. That is a few months ahead.
