The easiest way is to remove the threshold, replace any potentially bad wood in the frame, and then put in a new aluminum threshold.
I searched a bit for aluminum threshold, didn't quite find what I thought I would. Do they have a special name?

Felt it a bit with a knife and it was very soft, also no tjärpapp underneath... 🙄
Prefer not to replace the door, will try to place another aluminum threshold. The question is should one trim away some of the frame at the bottom so it's not standing on the concrete...

  • Rotten wooden door frame being checked for replacement with aluminum threshold.

Tar paper would not have helped when the wood is placed in a pocket like that. That was doomed from the start.

I am torn between moving the door (have never done anything like that) or installing an awning over it.
Which problem is greater? That water comes from underneath or that it runs along the door?

Water flowing along the door can (should) be managed with a drip edge on the door leaf that directs the water away from the threshold.
