Hello!

I'm about to fix up our new hallway. I'm not all thumbs, but I'm not a handyman either.

I've just finished the ceiling. The old one was under the beams, so I wanted a higher ceiling. The beams will be sanded and stained dark.

Now we come to the walls and interior. I'm not quite sure how to proceed? I've Googled but haven't found anything good.

I'm going to install beadboard as wainscoting and then a chair rail, followed by wallpaper. I want built-in wardrobes where I've nicely drawn in red. I was thinking of buying Ikea wardrobe doors (actually their kitchen doors) and then screwing in the hinges myself. Is it very difficult to get it right? Our craftsmen who helped us with the ceiling said I should buy whole wardrobes and dress them. And can one manage to make them with beadboard and then cut them out so they are completely recessed? Is it a doomed project?

What kind of studs should I use to attach and build the frame' 45×45?

Finally. What and where should I start? With the beadboard? I haven't found out how to do either outer or inner corners.

The one without drawing on is photographed straight into the hallway.

Thanks for the help with a thousand questions.

/Torsten
