Hello all knowledgeable and curious people,

I need to build some form of storage for horse gear. It's leather, metal, and especially textiles that need a place at the open shelter.
Some things become damp after use, which makes me worried about mold.
The only electricity available at the location is from a car battery.

How should I build to minimize the risk of rust and mold, etc., on the items?

Do dehumidifiers like "Torrbollen" help in a cold storage room?

All tips are gratefully received!

I find it hard to see how you manage without a stable with an accompanying tack room.
The horses must be able to go inside sometimes to something more weather-protected than a shelter?

There are two Icelandic horses that have been outdoors all their lives. A good shelter, where they can lie dry and soft and escape from weather, wind, and insects, is all they need. The Swedish Board of Agriculture has clear regulations on how such a shelter should be constructed.

But as I said... storage of horse gear is another matter entirely. That's where I would appreciate some input from knowledgeable and clever individuals.

You won't get rid of the moisture without building a proper house, but what you can do is build airy, meaning you can hang blankets and such freely. Leather items like saddles and bridles will manage if they are well-oiled as long as everything dries properly.
