Had begun a renovation of the laundry room in an LB-house from 1981 when we discovered that the locking ring at the floor drain had come loose and moisture had gotten under the floor mat.

Said and done, the floor mat was torn away & the damaged part of the chipboard was cut out, etc., but when it was time for restoration with an equally carefully cut 22mm floorboard, I discover that the old one was 20mm, not 22. :o

Can't find 20mm floorboards anywhere, so my question is if anyone has a reasonable alternative???

Why not take the opportunity to lay a floor so that it approaches the correct way to build today? Then you also don't need to worry about the tongue thickness...

It sounded interesting... but I guess you mean that I should place a 22mm board in the damaged area and then level the entire floor to the same level + a bit more to create a slope before we lay the carpet, if that's the case?

However, I would preferably just fill the seams (under which there are kortlingar if needed) and lay the carpet directly on the board this time as planned.

Yes, exactly. It might bring a bit more work, of course, but maybe it's worth it.

It worked out as I found a stash of 20mm chipboards of various lengths from back in the day. I feel a bit sorry for those who aren't as lucky and have to redo everything if they have a tight budget, limited opportunity to re-lay the entire floor due to fixed installations, etc.

If there aren't any larger surfaces, it's fine to take the 22mm board down to 20mm with the electric planer.
