I'm planning to cover the joist of the upper floor in a staircase with drywall. I'm wondering if I should finish the drywall at the same level as the chipboard of the upper floor's subfloor (and then lay the parquet over it), or if I should bring the drywall up about 15 mm extra to be at the same level as the parquet? In both cases, some form of trim would be needed over the edge.

How is it usually done?

It's easier to make it look nice if you loosen the gips.

You mean raising it 15-20 mm above the chipboard?
