I have a Götenehus from 1989 with steel studs and single drywall in the interior walls. I am going to mount our coat rack and when I test-drilled, I hit one end of the stud, which initially made me happy but then confused - how do you attach something heavy there?
A molly bolt for single drywall will likely be too short for the estimated 3 mm that the stud builds, and a similar bolt for double drywall will be too long... Using some form of sheet metal screw is hardly feasible either as it will just hang itself and tear the drywall?
This should be a fairly common problem, but oddly enough I can't find any previous thread here about this, and I didn't get a sensible answer from the local hardware store either...
