Something I've had enough of is cold floors. Okay, sure, you can wear slippers but...
So I've been toying with the idea of having waterborne underfloor heating in all rooms, but I suspect it would require a lot of energy to keep it running = expensive.
So I've wondered if having constant and pleasant heat from the radiators might be enough after all. I'm used to the house I'm taking over never having any heating at all. Do you think the floors will be okay if the house just gets a bit more constant heat? (the last 20 years I've lived in a concrete slab apartment, so the villa's floors might not be as cold)
While browsing Blocket for house ads to get ideas on how to remodel the roof (haha), I saw an ad that mentioned they had re-insulated their floors, and combined with two air pumps, they had very low heating costs.
The question then is; How do you go about re-insulating or improving insulation, can you add some extra under the floor? There is generous space between the foundation and the house.
Would such an intervention, along with other solutions like air pumps, be a better solution than installing underfloor heating loops? - I read a bit about the risk of cold drafts, so underfloor heating didn't seem to be as perfect as one might think?
