Have ordered custom mirrors to make my own mirror wall, need advice on board material as it is not available in such large dimensions!
Hello!
I have custom-ordered 3 mirrors to create my own industrial mirror. The dimensions of the mirrors are 2 at 65cm high and 130cm wide, and one is 70cm high and 130cm wide. The mirror will be a total of 220×140cm; I ordered smaller ones so that I can add trim, etc. The mirror glass is 3mm thick, so it doesn’t weigh much. The plan was to glue the mirrors with mirror adhesive onto some form of panel material. There is no panel material with a 140cm width, so I need to think a little differently. I plan to screw the panel to the wall. I initially thought of gluing the mirrors directly to the wall but changed my mind about that idea if I ever want to remove it someday.
Regarding panel material, I assume I need to buy 3 panels and cut them to size for each mirror. I have read that OSB is the cheapest material, but is particle board cheaper? Would one particle board be able to hold each mirror?
The trim around the mirror will cover the entire panel and be wider, then I'll have thinner trim that I’ll attach to the mirrors with some double-sided tape or similar since they should be thinner (I don’t even know why I started this since I am terrible at math😆
But is it possible to put up 3 different panels as tightly as possible, a few mm gaps don’t matter because the trim will make any small gaps insignificant.
I think it’s easiest to first screw the panel to the wall and then glue the mirrors or is it better to do it on the "floor" and then screw it up when the mirrors are in place? It seems much simpler to fasten the panels to the wall before the mirrors are on, but the best result might be to glue the mirrors to the panel before putting it up on the wall. The panels will be larger than the mirrors, so screwing them to the wall should not be a problem.
I would have wanted to create a custom-sized picture frame to go around the mirror, but that won't work due to the rebate depth of frames, so it'll just be regular trim instead.
Sorry for the confusion in all of this, I find it hard to explain everything.
If anyone understood any of what I’m asking, I’m grateful for any response or if someone has an even better idea?
Grateful for a response!

No, there is an alternativeMallpan said:
Make double layers of OSB/chipboard. Glue them together with construction adhesive so that you get maximum overlap of the boards between the layers. Then you have, in the end, one board onto which you can glue all the mirrors, if that's what you want?
Then you glue the mirrors on with construction adhesive and again make sure they overlap the joints on the boards maximally.
So the biggest job is to calculate the size of the boards so that you get maximum overlap
