Hi,
The hatch to our crawl space has had its day after 30 years and needs to be replaced. The size of the new hatch is almost identical to the old one. I am managing the frame with pressure-treated wood, but how do I solve the "roof" in a cheap way? I was thinking of laying plywood or tongue and groove as the roof but need weather protection on top of this, covering about 3m2 of surface material. I looked at roofing felt, but there are many different types; does it work, and if so, which felt should I choose? Then there is, of course, roofing shingles, but how does it work to lay it over corners? And then we have metal/plastic roofing, but I'm skeptical.
Does anyone have suggestions for a good and cheap solution?

If you choose roof shingles, you can buy angled sheet metal and have it around the edges.
