I have a niche of 60x120, drywall on three sides where JM wanted to place two tall cabinets. I would rather place the aquarium there and have full-depth base cabinets above, under the ceiling. I don't trust hanging them on two expansion screws each and some small strip, even if it might theoretically hold, especially not above glass and 240 liters of water...

So I thought of building a frame of 45x45 lumber, secured to the metal studs in the three walls before placing the cabinets on top and fastening them at the back.

Right now, the issue is that I can't find any expansion screws that have 6cm before the expansion part. Am I searching poorly? Or do you have a nicer/better solution for it all?

Another thought would be to attach directly through the sides of the cabinets instead, but the niche is a couple of cm wider than the cabinets, so it would require spacers or the gap will end up in the worst place, right in between. Plus, I’d have to work with the cabinet temporarily in the air, which I'd rather avoid.

Perhaps one shouldn't attempt things one doesn't quite master...

After giving it some more thought, I realize that I neither need to nor should drive the expansion screw through the timber. Naturally, I attach the expander to the plaster as usual and switch to screws of appropriate length to secure the wooden frame with.

I'm an idiot. Thank you for not pointing that out! :)
