Renovating and removed wallpaper from the wall. Want to repair and smooth the wall with gypsum plaster but not getting good results. It becomes too rough and coarse instead of silky matte and smooth.

The idea is to keep the plastered surface as it is and bind the dust. So not painting.

Using elite combimix from Bauhaus. Is Weber Gypsum preferable?

How I do it:

- Cast on gypsum plaster and spread it out like filler a few mm thick. Already here it can be difficult as the aggregate forms streaks when spreading the gypsum plaster.

- Wait some time until it's slightly damp/cold but not fully hardened.

- Go over with flat steel/sword to smooth it out.

- Bind the dust when it has dried. Used concrete glaze.

The result is rough with only small occasional areas of more glossy (desired) finish.

How do I succeed? Is it supposed to be this difficult?
