Hello

What is the difference between singel and makadam... does it matter which one you use for example when refilling a plinth

/jn

Single is natural gravel and is significantly rounder than makadam, which is machine-crushed rock. This means that makadam is considerably more stable as a base and is preferable if it is to carry a load. If you mean around the plinths, you can use either, but I would probably choose makadam underneath them.

Thanks, now I know!:)

A little useless trivia: macadam is named after its inventor, the Scot John Loudon McAdam. Singel is a Swedification of the English shingle, which means gravel.

Singel is a Swedish adaptation of the English word shingle, which means gravel.
No unnecessary trivia is useless, so there ... :D ;)

Thanks. :p

Macadam has better load-bearing capacity than gravel, as they interlock better. Then there is washed macadam, which is better if you want a better non-capillary layer than regular macadam.
