Hello!

We are currently renovating the kitchen in our house from '93. The ceiling consists of large chipboard panels. Between each panel, there is a 7-8 mm gap. There is a white rubber strip placed there (see the picture where I tried to poke down a small piece of it) and then some joint compound over it that has cracked. We would like to have a smooth ceiling. How can we fix these gaps in a good way? Is it possible to do it without it cracking again?

  • Close-up of a ceiling panel showing a gap between large particleboard sheets. A white rubber strip and cracked sealant are visible in the gap.
  • Gap between chipboard panels in a kitchen ceiling with a white rubber strip partially removed.

Put up drywall!
