I have an edge strip around my pool that is screwed into the underlying composite decking, but the decking is not optimal for screwing into and the screws are loosening, so I would like to place some kind of strip underneath the decking that a through screw can grip onto properly (the decking has a 2-3 cm overhang over the pool edge). A wooden strip doesn't feel optimal due to the proximity to water. Does anyone have suggestions for a suitable material that a screw can grip onto properly?

(I could drill and use a screw/nut, but a screw strip feels better and easier)
