I am going to build a carport and have received help to size a glued laminated beam 90x310, but what does this dimension correspond to in LVL or is it the same? Is it the same weight or are there other advantages/disadvantages with LVL?

I believe Kerto beams only exist up to 75 mm thick. In the highest strength class (Kerto-S), they are entirely comparable to glulam. To match a 90x315 mm glulam beam, you would need to use a 75x335 mm Kerto-S beam. Kerto beams can be made narrower (though they become taller) than regular glulam and thereby slightly lighter. The disadvantage is that they require more height space.
