Glass by the fireplace

Hello

I'm going to put up some glass by the open fireplace.
The glass should be between the fireplace and the corner post, like the cardboard on the other side.

What I'm wondering is what kind of glass I should use and how to best attach the glass. Some glue or some good fittings?
