Hello, we are considering replacing our garage roof since it has started to leak a little. The current roof is made of eternit. The roof is uninsulated.

What do you think we should replace it with, or is there any way to temporarily or even over the long term keep the current roof watertight?

After all, it is a bit of work and cost to replace the roof.

What is the slope of the roof?
What is under the asbestos cement roof tiles? Any swelling?
What is the size of the garage/roof?

A building notification/building permit may be required when changing the roofing.

Attaching 2 images for you to get an idea. The roof doesn't slope much.
See a bit of how it looks underneath.
Assume this is eternit anyway? Interior view of a slanted roof with exposed beams, partially covered with corrugated sheets, and brick and wood panel walls underneath. View of a slightly sloped roof with corrugated material, possibly asbestos cement, and wooden beams visible. Tools and supplies on a shelf below.

Yes, it looks like eternit.

Switch to some type of metal roof, available with "condensation protection" (special underside).

I didn't know that existed. Maybe more convenient than installing sheathing underneath.

How old is the roof?
It looks relatively new. Then it doesn't have to be asbestos, but can be regular fiber cement. The same that's manufactured nowadays. The simplest would be to replace it with the same newly manufactured roof type.

It looks nice. What does it mean to have started leaking a little?

It has started leaking at the screw holes among others, and then at the bottom of the roof, it has cracked.

This is what the floor looks like after a day with sleet Wet concrete floor with water puddles, reflecting indoor light, next to a white cabinet and stacked tires, after a day of sleet. Wet floor with puddles after a day of sleet and rain.

What is the roof pitch? I think it looks pretty flat, so metal sheets in full lengths with condensation fabric or wooden boarding and roofing felt are logical solutions.

The roof has only about a 6-degree pitch.

Yes, then it's really borderline to use metal even over a cold garage, but it should work with something like trp. Even 3° type felt is more serious, although I find it hard to recommend it over "real felt" ;)
