After getting tired of the old poorly constructed concrete stairs up to our house, we hired a company to demolish the old stairs and build a new one. The stairs would have 10 cm high risers (We are older) and the treads would be whatever they turn out to be. Now, a year later, the stairs are starting to suffer from frost damage and I am looking for a product that seals the tread surface and smooths it out. I've googled a bit, but it's incomprehensible and surely propaganda-driven. Anyone knowledgeable in this area, probably belongs in the domain of chemin?
Admin: Also not sure if I'm posting in the right forum! 🤔

I would probably start by filing a complaint against the company that made it. There are specific concrete qualities for the purpose, which should not freeze and crumble.

I already asked him what responsibility he has: He knows nothing and doesn't want to know anything. So even if I push him, it will only end up badly. No, I want to get someone who knows this and can give advice so I can handle it myself.

Close-up of a textured concrete surface with a shadow cast across it.
Close-up of concrete steps with textured surface and sharp edges, highlighting the detail in the material. Concrete stairs with a metal handrail and gravel to one side, leading down to a paved area, bordered by rocks and a retaining wall.

Is it even concrete mix they've used?
