French wood screw?

I am going to build a deck, should I use French wood screws? I have seen that there is a "slimmer" version available, but is it preferable? What is the most convenient and cost-effective option?

Is it a significant cost? It's simple, proven, so why not?

I assume you then screw the decking with decking screws.....

essve/heco has a better screw than the French ones, with the least risk of tearing them apart and you don't need to pre-drill.
Available in most hardware stores and metal sheds
