Hello,

This post might have ended up in the wrong forum section, feel free to move it if so.

I need a whole bunch of French wood screws for a large fence project. I've been to a couple of hardware stores and only seen small packages of 10-15 screws. I need 400+ pieces, so it becomes insanely expensive.
Does anyone know where to buy in bulk?
I live in Gothenburg.

Regards,

Stefan

What is the price if you buy in bulk?

I know that Byggmax has frans skruv in bulk. In Borås, Verktygsboden also has a good assortment of screws.

Check with a regular hardware store. I have at some point bought screws in a 100-pack, so it does exist.

I believe Biltema has it.

Biltema has, it depends on the quality requirements you set. They are cheap in any case.

Check Odal, Swedol, and similar stores, as well as regular hardware dealers.
I personally refuse to buy five screws in a silly pinpack bag.

Mr handyman: Bought a pack of 100 myself for what four would have cost at the hardware store. Worked well for me at least ;)

Many underestimate Biltema, it's the same products as those at Jula or Clas Ohlson.

But quality costs, check out Byggmax, Bauhaus, K-rauta, somewhere there you'll find it.

Joo biltema, for all its worth, but their screws have a 4.6 strength, so you need to go a dimension thicker than with quality screws that have 8.8... What dimension is current? I have a couple of pallets of French screws standing by that we don't use in practice anymore since wurth's SK model is superior in most cases..

Hello,

I went with biltemas. Cheap, but bad. Several of them broke when I tightened them, and I didn't even tighten them that hard...
But oh well. It was cheap.

Stefan

Did you pre-drill? And if so, what size hole did you drill and what dimension was the French one you were going to screw in?

I will be using 8mm French screws in the studs. What size do you think I should pre-drill with? 5mm?

A hardware store should easily beat Biltema's prices provided you buy in bulk. That the store then offers sales in loose weight or by piece makes it obvious that the price will be higher...

Unfortunately, not everyone apparently wants to sell screws... ;)
