Frame up in aerated concrete..

Hello,
I am new to this forum. So please excuse me if I'm not using an existing thread on framing in lightweight concrete..

As I mentioned, I am going to frame in lightweight concrete... to put up plank walls. The studs are 22x70, so the room won't shrink too much..
Today we started putting up the studs... or well, it was just ONE single stud because we couldn't get it to attach to the lightweight concrete..
What we've tried to fasten with is nail plugs 6x80mm if I remember correctly... The grip is like summer tires on black ice... i.e. ZERO!! We have also tried with plugs without any great success...

So nail plugs feel completely useless... or are we doing something wrong?

What the hell should we do? It feels like nothing can attach to this lightweight concrete...

If you are too forceful with the drill, the hole can become larger in diameter than intended.
Try using a drill bit that is one size smaller.

For me, Essve Lättbetongskruvar have worked. They look like heavy-duty wood screws and require neither plugs nor pre-drilling. They hold like a rock. I've used them to attach a staircase railing.

He doesn't have studs! His timber is 22x70, i.e., more like sparse paneling.

I usually use the common 8mm plug from Biltema http://www.biltema.se/sv/Bygg/Fastelement/Plugg/Kombiplugg/Skruvplugg-16116/ together with long wood screws. Drill with a 7 mm bit and push the plug in an extra cm.

Yes, these fellows work excellently both in leca and in siporex/light concrete.

An alternative to this is Essve's facade plug. It holds very well but may be perceived as a bit coarse for delicate indoor work. I've used them to attach the exterior wood facade.

I would also like to suggest to the thread starter to glue the battens. They will hold like a rock.

We have contacted Essve.. So now we're going with their screws and we'll also glue the studs... So hopefully we won't get an interior wall as a bedmate after the renovation...
