Hello!
I'm planning to cast a freestanding wall that will be 540mm high and 150mm deep (thick).
I was thinking of building the form according to the nice sketch.
What do you think about that? The braces and 45x95 will be anchored in the ground with iron.
I would preferably avoid form ties to eliminate holes etc.

Thanks in advance.

Not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean double layers of råspont? Why? One layer and then closely spaced vertical studs to withstand the pressure from the concrete. This picture illustrates what a good form should look like:

Wooden formwork for concrete with standing braces at a construction site, demonstrating structural support to withstand pressure during pouring.

Concrete is heavy and there is a lot of pressure when you vibrate it.

One layer of råspont, exactly.
Thanks for the picture, kind of how I was thinking too. From what I interpret in the picture, they don't have form ties either which I would prefer to avoid.
I'll likely do something similar to the picture but with perforated tape under the form which I'll attach to a stud on each side.

If you connect the sides according to the picture and don't use too weak studs, you don't need any form ties. The wall is only 15 thick.

Edit: Aha, I see I was fooled by a line break in your sketch with 22x95 standing (I didn't see that).

Did you pour anything? I'm planning a similar project and want to do as little work with the form as possible without compromising the result. Did you skip studs and plan to use 22x95 on the outside?

Hey there! Yes, it was cast and held, barely😅 the form on the highest part of the wall bulged a little when the top was filled but everything held and it's nothing you can see now.

Thanks for the update! Did you mix the concrete yourself?

No, I bought it ready-made, also used 5% black pigment in it. I would never have thought it was worth hand-mixing all of that.
