Forgotten plaster strips before filling.
Hello everyone!
We have installed renovation gypsum board (recessed, 6mm) in a room. My partner filled and forgot to put in the gypsum strips in the joints. The filler has been in place for several days and is completely dry. The gypsum boards are mounted on masonite with several layers of wallpaper between the masonite and gypsum. The house is a half-timbered wooden house from '79.
Now we are torn between somehow removing a whole lot of filler and redoing it with the strips or simply filling in any cracks that may appear in the future. We will paint directly on the gypsum and filler and not put up wallpaper.
Thanks for tips and ideas!

I would have put strips there; the fact that it has been in place for a few days doesn't say much about how it will hold. Wooden houses move a lot, and the risk is significant that in a few months, just when everything is finished in the room, it will start to crack.
Putting on filler and especially sanding forever (and also painting) in a room you use is not ideal.

if it is not already sanded, just sand it with coarse paper and a machine, and it will quickly be sanded down so you can fit strips and more filler.
80-grit paper and an electric sander will dust down the entire room in an hour. (sometimes you forget things, has happened to me too)
