Hello!
When the company installed new siding for us last spring, they put up a beam 45X220.
They installed it so that the awning could be attached to it when the time came.
Now, of course, I don't remember at what height the company placed the beam.
Can I use some kind of stud finder or similar tool to locate the position of the beam to be able to put up the new awning? This is outdoors under insulation and new falspanel. At the same time, I need fairly precise measurements since a heavy awning is going to be mounted.
Thankful for an answer.

Of course you can.

Maybe you or the company have a picture or drawing to look at to refresh your memory?

Unfortunately not. It was like they asked me. Do you want it at the same height as the old one is at? Then I quickly answered yes—I was on my way to work at the same time. So I forgot to write down measurements and position.
BUT! What should I do now? Best regards

Still ask the carpenter who was on site, you might get a picture back.

How reliable are these brick locators? Or are there other methods that might be better?

it is falspanel. No, it feels quite extreme to need to do that?

There it is, the bugger!! Above the window.

  • House exterior with insulation and wood paneling above a window; a worker in white clothing is bent over nearby.
A rules finder should be able to find that, right??

But now you have a picture, what do you need a rangefinder for then?

True. But how do you determine approximately how many cm above the window they are? How would you have done it?
