We have just had our house framework erected. Naturally, it rained for most of the day. The blocks were protected on top with some form of plastic/wind barrier. This was folded away by the builders when they were about to attach the roof trusses. Because of this, water has seeped in between the plastic and the insulation in several places. I understand, of course, that this is not good, and the builders say they will cut open and dry out where there is a problem. But what I'm wondering is whether this plastic really should have been folded away? Why couldn't it stay in place under the roof trusses? On the gables where it remains, there is no water inside the insulation.
The idea is that the plastic film in the walls should be folded/rolled together with the upcoming plastic film in the ceiling to make the house airtight. It will be difficult if the plastic is squeezed under the rafters. But surely the builders should have been able to temporarily cover the walls to prevent water from running down into the wall.
