Hello!

I plan to seal old ventilation holes after installing ftx. Currently, they're just filled with insulation. I'm considering just applying spray foam directly onto the insulation to create a solid surface that I can then plaster/spackle and paint over. Would that work, or is a harder base than insulation needed for the spray foam itself?

It might work. But choose a foam that hardens. Some types become a bit rubbery, and then it is difficult to spackle.
