The house we live in was built in the cheerful 70s.

I am going to tear down my brick facade and replace it with a wooden facade. In conjunction with this, I will also be adding external insulation of 120 mm.

On the inside, a 17 mm nail batten will be replaced with a 45 mm batten and some insulation. These 45 mm will also be used for pipe installation.

The house is built in classic 70s fashion, slab on grade without much insulation underneath, possibly there's 5 cm, but I'm not entirely sure.

The slab is not smooth model, but the sill and masonry are recessed into a "ledge".

A void will occur, see attached PDF. What do you think about filling this cavity with polyurethane foam? Last winter, I felt that in some places a lot of cold air was coming in through certain corners of the house, and I suspect the sill isn't completely sealed.

So the question is; foam or not? Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance
