I tore down a load-bearing inner wall, and the carpenter rebuilt it...

This was the previous setup from the floor;
* Concrete slab - mineral wool - floor joist...

Now the carpenter has done the following:
* Concrete slab - plastic shims - floor joist

This is to prevent the floor joist from resting on the concrete slab...
What I wonder is, is this OK?

Shouldn't he have laid down sill paper and then simply put the floor joist on that?

Should I install plastic sheeting, sill paper, or try to seal with foam to eliminate the gap?

Or does it not matter???

What I'm worried about is that moisture might get into the floor joist.

Since the joist is not directly against the floor, the solution is correct. A strip of tar paper between the floor and the joist is also a common solution.

I sealed with foam sealant as I am going to level with self-leveling compound, so it doesn't get under the stud.
I hope I didn't mess up now...
