Hello,

Considering fixing the ceiling on the upper floor (see image). Currently, it's some kind of panel, and we're not really fond of the look. Alternatives are to repaint it (whew, about 45 m2 area) or to freshen it up with Huntonit ceiling instead, which seems to be reasonably easy to do yourself.

My question is, would it be possible to screw the Huntonit panels on top of the existing panels? Any specific reason why it wouldn't work or would be a bad idea? We have high ceilings there now, so an additional "layer" of about 13mm or so doesn't make much difference. Tearing everything down first would undoubtedly be much more work, but if there are good reasons to do so, then that's what it will have to be.

Thanks in advance

Attaches to the ceiling perfectly fine, but keep in mind not to use too large a screw, it can crack the panel if it's thin, otherwise no worries. I personally used short drywall screws, slightly large head, squeezed out the edge. If you placed it too far out, there was a bulge and it became difficult to tap in the next sheet.

Great, since no one else seems to cut down my plan, we'll go with it. Thanks for the response (y)

Paint white ceiling paint 2 times, first primer I should have done.

Hello Jonatan

I've thought about it (I've painted it by hand in another room), but it wasn't fun at all. It takes time and these are relatively large surfaces. The roller doesn't reach between the slats properly, so I have to touch up with a brush.

I actually asked another question in the spray painting thread regarding Wagner's airless sprayers, which I was considering using for other purposes. So, depending on whether I end up buying one or not, I might consider painting "by hand."
