Fixing pliers for boxes/metal studs?
Hey!
Is it possible to attach boxes with metal angles to steel studs using locking pliers instead of using sheet metal screws? Or is the sheet metal in the box's mounting bracket too thick?
I'm going to install boards in Cembrit / Minerit / fiber cement on a steel stud, and if you screw them in, I think the edge of the boards becomes a bit too wavy with both the mounting bracket and the screw head outside the stud.
Since the stud has a crimped edge, it's not possible to place the bracket inside the stud either.
Best regards,
Höghus

I don't think it works. For one thing, the fixer pliers work poorly as soon as the material is a bit thicker, and the fixation itself is meant to just hold the steel studs together until the boards are screwed in place.
I also thought it got a bit wavy with sheet metal screws and solved it by milling out the OSB on the backside. I guess that's not an option for fibercement?
