I have stripped the wallpaper from a wall and underneath is plaster. Now I want to fix it and then paint it white. Is it just a matter of going ahead with plaster and smoothing it out? And if so, does it work to do it over the wood beam at the top and the wood on the side as well? Or how should I think about it?
Wood and plaster are difficult to combine; it will crack at the joint.
On the plastered surface, it's good to use gipsputs as it is easy to work with and adheres well.
