I have cast two retaining walls on either side of the basement entrance. The surface turned out very porous and there are, of course, imprints from the tongue and groove mold. Now I want to tidy this up. Plaster does not adhere to concrete (I noticed this on the wall I had before). You could paint it but would then need to smooth the surface. Can I just skim it with cement? Stone panels would look the best, but they cost 600:-/sqm. Anyway, there will be a granite stone covering. Any tips?

  • Stone steps with cobblestone insets beside concrete retaining walls, a tamping tool and a wheelbarrow in the background.
  • Stone stairs leading down to a basement door with two concrete retaining walls on each side, surrounded by rocks and gravel.
Use repair mortar from, for example, Weber. Available for purchase in 25kg bags.
