Firewood under the indoor staircase, is house longhorn beetle a concern?
Hello,
we have quite a lot of space and tile flooring under the stairs leading up to the upper floor. Is it a very dumb idea to stack firewood there? Could we get woodworm or something similar that way? (New house, brick facade)
Thanks for the help!

Now, since you are private individuals, we received a stern reprimand during the fire inspection of one of our properties due to stacking firewood under the stairs.
You should not increase the fire risks in a stairway, it's easier to evacuate the upper floor via the stairs than out through the windows/balcony, and you want to prevent fire from spreading from floor to floor as much as possible.
So that firewood storage was the worst in the entire house according to the fireman.

But on the other hand, how often does a fire start under a staircase?
Most often it starts somewhere completely different, and considering the time it takes for the fire to spread to the staircase...well by that time, hopefully, everyone has managed to get out.
Eek! Don't say that, I have loads of wood under the stairs!
Considering that my house mostly consists of treetex boards, I'm doomed the day it catches fire, it just goes swoosh.
Darn, now I'm going to think it's not the mice I hear in the walls anymore but the house borer.
