Hi, I am renovating a school that was built in the early 1900s. It will become a hostel. The fire resistance class EI 60 is required for all bedrooms and floors. What I'm wondering is if anyone knows a good site where I can read more about construction technology and regulations for this? I am being bounced back and forth between the architect and the fire department regarding different materials and constructions. I would like to study a bit myself to be able to respond better. Thank you in advance - Fredrik

In agriculture, this fire class often applies as well. The attached link describes several building technical details to achieve this. http://www.svbf.se/A1_Omoss/Bilder/flik3.pdf and http://www.stenull.paroc.se/produktdat/pdf_down/Brandoljud2007.pdf. A piece of advice is to also contact your insurance company. They can often provide good input if you find the right person, i.e., someone knowledgeable in building techniques.
