Hi, last fall I built a deck with a carpenter. This summer I would like to finish the last parts but can no longer consult him. So I need your help if possible 😊

Picture 1,2: I start by trimming the cover board by 5 mm with a Fein saw. Then I cut the last decking board to fit.

0) Correct assumption above?
1) Do I use a Fein saw to cut the cover board?
2) Newly purchased decking board, should it be placed tightly against the facade or is it better to leave a few mm?

Picture 3,4: I cut the decking board at both places where the "extended window trim" goes down under the deck.

3) Correct?

Picture 5,6: The threshold flashing, I am completely puzzled here.

4) How do I best solve the decking board at the threshold flashing?

  • Ruler measuring gap between wooden decking and red house facade.
  • Wooden plank deck near a red-painted wall, with visible knots and horizontal grooves; sunlit with shadows cast on the surface.
  • Close-up of a wooden deck next to a red and green facade with gaps between the planks; part of a DIY deck project inquiry.
  • Close-up of a green house facade with a white corner trim. Adjacent decking shows a gap near the base. Sunlight casts shadows on the wooden surface.
  • Close-up of a timber deck with a white metal threshold flashing adjacent to a green door. Question about best method for aligning decking near threshold.
  • Wooden terrace next to a red painted house wall with green doors. Sunlight casts shadows on the terrace, showing the details of the planks.
