Find studs in a plastered wall

Hi
Do those of you who know about this think it's okay to put paneling on this wall? And if so, how can you easily find the studs or something to nail into? I was considering buying a stud finder but am unsure if it will work since there's plaster on a metal mesh.

Thank you, in the inspection report it says that it is a wooden frame covered with plaster.
