I am going to build a fence for a patio and currently have fixed posts with about 2.5 meters distance between them. Is that too far to support a fence, and does it require me to put up posts in the middle?

If the pillars go straight through the deck with about 1 meter protruding, it will work fine. If they are new posts for the railing, it will be a bit trickier to make it steady and not wobble. See how you anchor the posts. Maybe cut up at the pillars on the upper side and attach about half a meter down. What material are the pillars made of?

Yes, the posts are very stable. They are cast in place and support the roof.

Do you mean that it should be fine to install a wooden fence without extra pillars?

Just build on, I have 2.5 meters in between, and they hold a terrace in the sky at 2.5 meters and go through 90 cm up. On them sits my railing rock solid.
