Hello! We have an old, beautiful wrought iron railing from a demolished outdoor patio of an old functionalist house that we want to reuse on a newly built balcony. See attached picture. The red is the railing and the red crossbars are the brackets that were previously cast into the wall. My idea was to attach the railing to the walls and put rubber pads on the old brackets to rest on the balcony's metal floor.

Questions:
1. Is the technique of attaching to the walls only and not the floor sufficient?
2. The railing does not reach each wall as there is a gap of about 2-4 dm. Considering placing long screws with sleeves between the railing and the wall. Need concrete tips on fastening technique and material. If it's unclear what I mean, just ask away. I’m keeping an eye on the thread. Best regards, Stefan
