Facade scaffolding = crazy expensive!?
I visited a smaller scrap yard today to look for some used agricultural machinery, and I walked past a whole "section" with old scaffolding, both hook scaffolding and the other variant with "screw clamps." They did have a certain patina, so to speak, but were fully functional! He was asking 24:- per meter if I remember correctly, which should mean about 500-600:- for a section (2m*2m*1m).
Where can you find such nice stores?Artec said:
Here in the Stockholm area, they have all been eradicated.
Call the scaffolding companies and ask if you can buy a bunch of old haki or burtons (or another brand). I was lucky and found large quantities from a company outside Stockholm at a great price. When I was done, I rented it out for a couple of seasons. After that, I sold it for a good profit.
If I'm not mistaken, there are quite high requirements for scaffolding to be safety approved, which means that older scaffolding is taken out of use. Therefore, there should be an opportunity to buy old ones from the companies.

No mainly because I am slow to get started with the construction... it will finally be next spring it seems like...
I painted a few hours per day, so it took about 2 weeks, with washing and painting twice, fairly manageable I thought.
I've done it twice, but the last time I had to use plastic paint.... so there probably won't be another time on this house for me

I hired a small scaffolding company, building an additional floor on part of the house. About 110 sqm of scaffolding. It cost 33,000 (I think) for 12 weeks, including setup, takedown, and transportation.
I was shocked by the price and got quite upset about an extra charge of about 2,500 (out of 33,000). But I chose not to complain about it since I suspected I would need to keep the scaffolding for about 2 weeks beyond the agreed time and thought to use the extra charge as a bargaining argument.
I'm very glad I didn't argue. We had problems with the tinsmith which delayed the dismantling of the scaffolding, and then it was so close to the time for the extremely delayed window delivery (I had initially planned to rent a movable scaffolding tower for that part). As a result, I got to keep the scaffolding, with no hassle from the company, 12 weeks beyond the agreed time, for free! I almost got the feeling that they would have preferred not to deal with the scaffolding even when I finally asked them to come and pick it up.
