Hello! I'm about to start my next project and thought I'd see if I could get some good ideas and tips from here.

I’m planning to build a roof for the tractor and car and I'm considering whether to have posts in the middle or use laminated beams. (See picture) I make the posts by gluing together two 170 boards.

I essentially have three options:

1. I use posts D and E and place 220 (1) boards on these to support the roof joists.

2. I remove post E and place a laminated beam from H to B.

3. I remove both posts D and E and place laminated beams from A to G and from B to H.

I have three main considerations regarding these options:

- Which would be the cheapest, price-wise, would you say? I guess the first option? (However, it will probably require more work with extra plinths and posts that need to be made)

- Do all the options work structurally?

- Should I do it in a completely different way?

Thanks in advance!

Where in Sweden is this, considering which snow loads need to be taken into account?

Sundsvall is this, so quite a bit of snow can come.

Hi! I see it was about 1 year ago, but did you find a solution? I'm having almost the same thoughts. Tractor carport in Sundsvall. 4 meters wide and there come the problems with sloped roofs and bearing capacity for 4 meter beams. Should you saw from spruce logs or place the beams closely? Mine will stand against the wall of the machine hall.

Are you planning to build it so that snow from the machine hall roof can fall onto your new sloped roof?
